Johnnie levels for their basic line up from low to high: Red Label (around 8yrs and NAS) : my opinion: it's trash. Black Label (12 yr age stated): Pretty average blend. Double Black (12 yr and higher peated malt %): decent stuff. Green Label (15 yr Age stated and 100% malt): Buy!! Gold label (18yr): not great for the $$.

Confession time: I like Johnnie Walker Black. I've hated on the Johnnie Walker brand pretty hard on here. My ire is generally aimed at JW Red, which I still think is one of the worst blended Scotches you can find. I like the Green but it's ridiculously difficult to find. The Blue is absurdly priced and frankly not worth the premium. But the Black.
Jun 15, 2020 · Whisky Review # 879. Buying Advice: đIt's okay but Black and Green have a better P/Q ratio. It's a pity that even the higher-end JW Blends are bottled at 40%. The 18 Years at least requires 43% and probably a bit more. As it is the initial feeling on the Nose is a bit Weak and Thin. It's not bad but just too Light.

Oct 1, 2011 · Itâs not bad â but Double Black has a bit of an identity crisis, not sure if it wants to be a smoked-up sweet bomb or a sweetened rendition of a peaty Scotch. Walker didnât land on either one, and fans of both styles of whiskys are unlikely to be thrilled here. Still, kudos to Walker for stepping into the peat world, however erratically.
